Language and literacy development begins at infancy and continues through to adulthood where children are learning many aspects to help communicate thoughts, ideas, problems, or even emotions.  Children need to develop skills to become excellent conversationalists such as the rules of conversation, grammatical rules of language, and enough words to keep the conversation lively and interesting. (Resnick, L. et.al., 2009, pp. 12)

Your involvement in language and literacy development fosters important skills to build confidence and empower children to use language effectively.  Throughout this site you will be able to build your knowledge about different aspects of language and literacy, along with interacting with websites and activities to promote language and literacy growth in children.
